Joint pain is very common.
Inflamed, stiff and painful may be due to trauma e.g. twisting an ankle, but more commonly joints may become affected by poor posture, poor awareness, repetition and over-use. This can result in pain, inflammation, stiffness muscle loss and loss of function.
- Abnormal movement patterns due to faulty movement patterns
- Poor workstation set up
- Lack of movement
- Over training or trauma
How We Can Help:
- Reduce your pain
- Reduce inflammation
- Restore normal range of movement
- Establish the root cause and prevent reoccurrence
- Design an appropriate exercise programme
- Posture advice and workstation advice
- Address the biomechanical issues overloading the joint and prescribe aids or a splint where appropriate, and insoles when necessary.
Shoulder Pain
May arise due to posture, poor ergonomics, faulty movement patterns, trauma and degeneration. Common conditions include tendonitis, rotator cuff tears and adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) bursitis.
Elbow Pain
Conditions may include tendonitis, tennis elbow, golfers elbow and/or fractures.
Wrist Pain
Wrist pain can be associated with poor office set up, lack of breaks, contact stress, poor work life balance. Conditions treated include tendonitis, carpel tunnel syndrome, de queverains and wrist fractures.
Knee Pain
Common sporting injuries associated with trauma, over training, poor motor control include hamstring injuries, medial collateral ligament (MCL) Lateral collateral ligament (LCL) anterior and posterior (ACL) (PCL) cruciate ligament injuries. Effective management of these injuries and in particular hamstring injuries must include a specific individualized rehab program to correct muscle imbalances.
Anterior knee pain/runners’ knee (pain in the front of the knee) is a common knee injury associated with running. Pain may be felt when sitting for long periods, running, squatting and going up and down stairs.
Certain knee injuries may also occur due to degeneration and foot profile.
Foot & Ankle Pain
Ankles sprains and recurrent ankle injuries that are not treated properly can result in long term instability. Plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, cuboid syndrome, metatarsalgia achilles tendonitis/tendonopathy are common injuries of the foot and ankle. These injuries can be associated with over pronation also known as fallen arches. These injuries can be treated within our clinic with a custom-made insole (orthotics) or an off the shelf insole. We offer custom orthotics specifically designed for your foot based on our biomechanical assessment or a complete range of off the shelf insoles should these suffice.
